"It's a little bit funny...

...this feeling inside".....because another time, once again as it happened sometime ago,I find myself dealing with that side of a choice that revealed itself as being the less comfortable and appropriate given the circumstances....I guess it's DNA, either you have the ability to make the right choice or you don't, I clearly DON'T....and it's probably time I start accepting it, and dealing with it, instead of complaining and being pissed after the situation has already happened...
People do not do anything for free, most of them get somehow involved with you because they need or want something from you, and could do whatever it takes to get it, whether it's an answer, a favor, a meal, a job, an information....and once they get what they came to you for, they just disappear, without any explanation or excuse....Am I like that as well? Me that tries to be polite politically correct nice friendly all the time, that almost walks bare feet not to hurt someone's feelings unless extremely necessary, that always blames myself first, before maybe blaming someone else...Don't know but I don't see myself as this huge calculator, even though I really might be and it's not my job to judge who I am and who I am not...anyway, once again THAT bad choice presented itself to my table, in a situation very similar to the past one, but with a person who is not even close to the other one, so you think you're going to be safe and anyway, you are different right? Don't we all think that?:"I'm different, it won't happen to me"...well, guess what? that person was not that much different and neither am I, since it has exactly happened to me...I must have a radar, no kidding....does it ever break so that I can get a new one? Maybe also another new portion of the brain would be useful, I will have to start thinking about that as my next purchase, since I am plenty of shoes....so while I spend hours laughing because of one of the funniest night of my life with one of the biggest losers ever met, the other side of myself tries to deal with the last wrong choice, trying to explain why I did that and what I thought I could get by doing it, but more than anything it tries to figure out the counterpart rude unpolite weird and way undeserved reaction, really not needed...."We cannot change other people's actions, we can only control the way we react to them"....guess I have to practice this sentence and be as Zen as it goes, like Carlotta would suggest...Zen whatever though, when anyway there is a small part inside that hurts because Gosh, you just don't so this. Period. And while I'm trying to get myself together, turning off my brain and breathing deeply, here it goes a message on Facebook from that already mentioned long-distance friend that seems to make appear everything right even when it is actually not...life is funny, and it's indeed beautiful, if only I could get out of my mind, for once, for a change, just for trying....and somehow feeling like Scarlett sitting on the ground of Tara and swearing she will not be hungry again, whatever it would take her, I lit up some incense, few low lights in my living room, open a beer and my cook book and I absolutely promise myself that this will not became another painful Mr. H, another heartache, another damage to my mental sanity....it's just a lost battle for my pride and my person, my being a woman, a woman with a lot of healthy things to offer, but when you lose a battle you take your time to recuperate and start again, because as Alessandro would say":We're warriors and cannot do otherwise, and we will ultimately win". The time I need is the one of making a quiche, drinking a beer, getting ready for this girls night out.
See ya dude.

The show must go on...

..."inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be fading but my smile still stays on"....

Sundays....

....are always a challenge because tomorrow is monday, you start working again and you nevefr know which kind of Sunday you will have....I had very bad sad lonely ones and great happy and wonderful ones, it depends on the moon but especially on my mood....
This one started off as a great one, one when you cannot stop smiling and being happy to be alive, right here right now...
The weekend started pretty well with the Thundercares opportunity on Saturday morning, featuring a bad early wake up call but also tons of laughs and fun with some old and new friends....the day went on with a nice last minute lunch with a new girlfriend talking exchanging opinions and ideas, always a good thing...and it ended with my first Saturday night milonga with Frank in a place at the end of the world, which it took us more than an hour to reach...but the dance floor was clean elegant sleek and inviting...the crowd mixed, a lot of familiar faces together with people I had never seen....my black dress embellished with sequins caught the eye of the best looking dancer and I started a sequel of 4 dances which kept getting better and better while my leader showed me new steps and I regained my self confidence...by midnight I was able to pull off Milonga Sentimental as if I had always danced it....great night indeed.
The feeling of this Sunday morning was one of cooking - the ricotta chocolate cake for Giuseppe, bread for the week end pesto because the basil is winking at me and it seemed just right to use it...laundry, phone calls to mom and dad, a little cleaning and while I'm approaching the sun bed in he back yard for some reading while tanning, my iPhone shows me some interesting pieces from my facebook...a message from that good looking dancer of last night, very much flattering indeed, and a post of my wall from that friend who is in DC for the week and :"...let's talk sometime this week"....and that sometime seems about right while I'm laying down under the Phoenix Sunday sun, so we have a nice flirty smooth conversation that reassures me once for all that things haven't changed and we are good, great, even better....
"Life is beautiful and great, don't let circumstances and society fool you into believing it's not" states a backgroung picture in my iPhone...Today that my life is smiling at me and everything seems to be perfect I couldn't feel it more true and realistic and I promise myself I will try my best not to be fooled into believing I have to be this or do that....and I'm off to enjoy my sunny warm happy Sunday....because who knows, maybe next one could be a sad rainy lonely one....;)

"It takes two to tango"

It's what a friend told me in a parking lot in Bologna few weeks ago, in a totally different situation, much more enjoyable funny interesting and juicy...and he was totally right, it does take two to tango, or at least to tango well let's say...and it's quite amusing that in this time of my life when I'm one and alone the one thing that puts me at ease, in peace with me myself and I and in a good smiling mood is TANGOING, learning those steps, challenging myself to discover something new, thinking about where this dance could take me in the future, near or far, planning the next trip to Buenos Aires to learn more dance more smile more....it takes two to tango and to do many other things better, in a more complete way, in a nicer way, "it's better together" sings the South Cali idol Jack Johnson, but now that I tango by myself, traveling from milonga to milonga and driving to neighborhoods where I would have never thought I'd driven by myself on weekends, I feel better, I feel complete and with my own meaning, I feel that I have this thing that is mine, and makes me as happy as few things that I do alone can do, even when the second part of the dancing couple is not present, it doesn't have a face a name a place an appearance and I don't know if and when it will have one...and the dance still looks good feels good and seems like that part 2 is not important, it's not necessary and I could easily do without it....it usually takes two to tango but now against all the common rules of dancing I get my peace and my place in tangoing by myself, and I have to admit that I like it, a lot....

Spinning thoughts....

Because when I start thinking too much about nonsense that does not make any sense nor changes my life a bit I can get frustrated and turn what I would call an ideall almost perfect day into a weird end of the day featuring a bunch of thoughts that would drive me nuts and prevent me to sleep, only not to get to any solutionj because there is no solution, life happens and things are just the way they are....Thank goodness when you need to get back with your feet on the ground and realize that there is no need to kill yourself and your Sunday evening over those stupid useless and pointless thoughts, it happens something that gets you back to where you were before your mind started spinning so fast, too fast...here it is, from a wonderful friend..."May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly whereyou are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities thatare born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that youhave received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you bec ontent with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settleinto your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praiseand love. It is there for each and every one of us"...dedicated to that person I'm always happy to see, who always makes me realize who I am and what I have, from the privileged point of view of a good friend after all...because we are right where we are supposed to be....con affetto,ml..

Thunderbird...

...always, again at the beginning of this new season, with my version of it scattered around the world and gathered only via phone emails and random trips, and a new current smart crowd who to hang out and feel that sense of culture fullness and brightness again, after almost 2 years, after Caroline Eli Helge Jay and the nights at the pub seemed already a far away memory, Giuseppe steps up and introduce me to this group of people, again smart funny entertaining with something bright and interesting to say to this world and to share, this new group that makes life in the desert more bearable and for sure nicer...and immediately MY TBirds come back to life right next to me, the coffees and conversations with Caroline, the games played with Eli, the genuine feeling of family given by Jay, the friendlliness of Helge and Pegi...and when after having given a ride to a new Tbird in my life I happen to take Greenway at 51st Ave at around midnight on a Saturday night, my smile cannot help but coming right on my face, brightening it as always good precious memories can do, exactly what one needs in certain moments, exactly what I need tonight after the office move and after about 10 days back in Phoenix, when Italy is already a memory and I have already reajusted to the Phoenician routine, still somehow and sometimes not getting it completely and feeling lost....a nice conversation, the car top down and that ride make the difference, and it's all I need to immediately feel better and start my Sunday with teh right foot...that Caroline is always a phone call away for our usual catching up from the opposite but never too distant sides of the ocean....
